Mainspring to IBM
- A Body of Work

This site chronicles in graphics
nearly four years of
leading edge exploration,
thinking, and dialogue conducted during multi-client events
hosted originally by Mainspring.com
which became the
IBM Institute for Business Value.

Each of the links on this page lead to graphic summaries of 12 unique events conducted from early 2000 through 2003. These images are one way to review almost three years of work by the community that began as the Mainspring.com Executive Council and became the IBM Institute for Business Value.

Other groups that played parts in certain events include the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative and the IBM Institute for Knowledge-Based Organizations.

The images were created in real-time during the events by Joe Sterling (Sterling Insights, Inc.), a graphic facilitator and strategic planning consultant. The images are not an exact transcript of the events, rather they are an on-the-fly synthesis of key points, ideas, and metaphors. You will see and read in them highlights of the changing thoughts, issues and ideas that were explored by participants and speakers over the last 32 months.

For more context about images or information about the programs start a dialogue with the Jennifer McKinley or Randy Hancock at IBM Institute for Business Value..
